| Obverse description | The obverse presents a blue-toned design with portrait vignettes of three Filipino national heroes: José Abad Santos at upper left, Vicente Lim at center, and Josefa Llanes Escoda at lower center, all rendered against a fine guilloche underprint. The numeral '1000' appears in large format at left and right, with the state title 'REPUBLIKA NG PILIPINAS' across the top and the denomination 'SANLIBONG PISO' along the lower right. A security holographic patch is positioned at center-left, and two intaglio-printed signatures appear at right identifying the Pangulo ng Pilipinas and the Tagapamahala ng Bangko Sentral. |

The 1,000 Piso is the highest denomination in the New Generation Currency series, which the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas introduced beginning in 2010 to address persistent counterfeiting problems with the earlier BSP series. The 2022–2024 printings fall within the third generation of the NGC format, incorporating incremental security upgrades that the central bank has declined to detail publicly — a deliberate policy rather than an oversight.
Cotton substrate for Philippine banknotes has been supplied under long-term contracts, with De La Rue and other security printers historically involved in production, though the BSP has occasionally shifted suppliers without public announcement.
