The Osvobodilna fronta (Liberation Front) issued localized occupation currency in several Slovenian districts during 1944, with individual district committees producing their own denominations outside any centralized printing arrangement. The Pivka district — a strategically significant karst corridor between Trieste and Ljubljana that both German and Italian forces had fought to control — was among the more active OF administrative units.
