Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse carries an oval vignette at the left depicting the ruins of Krujë Castle set against a rocky landscape, the historic stronghold associated with Skënderbeu's resistance against the Ottoman Empire. At the centre-right, the Albanian state coat of arms — a double-headed eagle beneath a crested helmet, flanked by crossed swords and laurel branches — is rendered in intaglio. The denomination numeral 1000 appears twice, with the value legend "NJEMIJE LEKE" and the year date 1995 printed in the lower right area against a geometric guilloche and traditional Albanian folk-pattern underprint in olive and yellow tones.

Opmerkingen

Albania's post-communist monetary restructuring through the early 1990s was turbulent enough, but the real catastrophe came just two years after this note's issue — the 1997 collapse of the pyramid scheme network that had absorbed the savings of roughly two-thirds of Albanian households. The resulting civil unrest killed around 2,000 people and briefly dismantled state authority across much of the country. Notes from this 1995 series were caught in the middle of that crisis, circulating through a period of acute instability before the lek was stabilized with international assistance.

De La Rue printed the series in London.
