Comments

Ukraine's 1,000 hryvnia denomination has existed since 2019, but the 2024 revision came during active wartime — the National Bank of Ukraine has continued issuing updated currency throughout the full-scale Russian invasion, a deliberate act of institutional continuity under extraordinary pressure. Maintaining a functioning currency system while the central bank's own operations were partially relocated is not a small administrative matter.

The cotton substrate and multi-layer security package — including the hologram strip and embedded thread — reflect post-Euromaidan upgrades to Ukrainian banknote specification that brought the series broadly in line with EU-standard anti-counterfeiting practice.
