| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse is executed in a fine intaglio engraving style typical of mid-nineteenth-century French colonial note production. The central field carries the large denomination legend "mille francs" in italic script, flanked by two allegorical standing figures — a warrior with helmet and spear at left and Neptune with trident at right — each set upon a decorative plinth, with a central lower vignette of a reclining female figure amid scrollwork and a caduceus medallion. The bank title "BANQUE DE L'ALGÉRIE" heads the note, with bilingual text in French and Arabic throughout, and three signature lines at lower centre for L'Administrateur, Le Directeur, and Le Caissier. |
