Reverse description The reverse of the underlying 100 Mark note carries a central historicist vignette in blue-grey tones, illustrating a scene from the 1628 siege of Stralsund by Wallenstein, with period figures and soldiers gathered before a panoramic view of the city's skyline. Flanking the central scene are two shield-shaped cartouches bearing the denomination "100 Mark" and the date "30.6. 1628", embellished with ribbons, crossed cannon, cannonballs, and chains. At the lower centre, a circular red seal of the city of Stralsund — inscribed "SIGILLUM CIVITATIS STRALESSUNDIS" — anchors the composition, while defiant historical quotations in Low German blackletter script are inscribed in the upper corners.
Reverse lettering Die Stadt muß herunter und wäre sie auch mit ketten an den himmel gebunden. .Stralsund. Wallenstein vor Stralsund 1628. Ergeben? Dat don wi nicht. Geld? Dat hebben wi nicht. Schurken, Rebellen? Dat sind wi nicht. 100 Mark 30.6. 1628 SIGILLUM-CIVITATIS-STRALESSUNDIS F. RACKOW.
