| Obverse description | Letterpress-printed in blue ink on plain paper, the obverse is enclosed within a multi-band decorative border of guilloche rosettes and interlocking teardrop ornaments. The central field is divided into three vertical panels: the left carrying the conditions of issue in German text alongside the numeral "1 000 000 Mark"; the right bearing the serial number prefix and the facsimile signature of the Bürgermeister; and the centre displaying the municipal coat of arms of Opladen surmounted by a mural crown. The denomination "Eine Million Mark" in Gothic script heads the note, with the legend "Gutschein der Stadt Opladen" at the foot above the printer's imprint. |
