| Obverse description | Grey-violet Notgeld issued on plain paper, framed by an ornate guilloche border of interlocking rosette medallions. The central field carries the denomination 'Eine Million Mark' in heavy Fraktur type over a faint floral underprint vignette, surmounted by the issuing authority legend 'Gutschein der Stadt Barmen'; a detachable right-hand stub panel bears the numeral '1,000,000' and the word 'Mark' in Gothic script alongside an oval decorative cartouche enclosing a red circular official stamp of the Oberbürgermeisteramt Barmen.
