| Obverse description | Printed in dark green on cream paper, the obverse is divided into three vertical panels. The left panel contains an ornate calligraphic vignette with interlaced scrollwork and the denomination legend 'MARK' in vertical orientation. The central panel carries the title 'Zahlungsanweisung' in large Gothic blackletter script above 'Eine Million Mark', followed by a text block in Kurrent script stating the liability of the Stadtrat and the redemption conditions, with the date 'Regensburg / den 8. August 1923' and the issuer name 'Stadtrat Regensburg' alongside a manuscript signature of the Bürgermeister. The right panel bears the heraldic vignette of the city of Regensburg — a shield with two crossed keys surmounted by battlements — signed below by the artist Josef Märkl. |
