August 1923, printed in black Fraktur script on a pale ground with a green geometric square underprint and an ornate red scrollwork border frame. The large denomination 'Eine Million Mark' is set in bold Gothic lettering at centre, with a red vignette of the municipal coat of arms as underprint behind it; the series letter 'Reihe A' and serial number appear in the upper register. Two official circular ink stamps — one for the Stadt Gelsenkirchen and one for the Kreisausschuss des Landkreises Gelsenkirchen — are applied at lower centre, flanked by manuscript signatures of authorised officials. |
