Series designation 'REIHE I' appears at upper left, with the serial number at upper right, the entire design framed by a dark sawtooth border bearing 'STADT DÜSSELDORF' vertically on the lateral bands and 'EINE MILLION MARK' along the upper and lower bands. The inscription 'STADT DÜSSELDORF' appears in the upper left of the inner panel, while the numeral '1000000' in large bold type with circular guilloche elements within the zeros is placed below the bridge scene, accompanied by 'MARK' beneath.
