| Obverse description | The central vignette carries the Düsseldorf civic lion clutching an anchor, positioned above large ornate lettering reading 'EINE MILLION MARK' with decorative scroll flourishes, all set on a guilloche underprint of small geometric rosettes in pale violet and green. Series designation 'REIHE I' appears at upper left, with the serial number at upper right, the entire design framed by a dark sawtooth border bearing 'STADT DÜSSELDORF' vertically on the lateral bands and 'EINE MILLION MARK' along the upper and lower bands. The lower text panel carries the full issuing authority clause dated Düsseldorf, den 15. Aug. 1923, countersigned by the Oberbürgermeister. |
