Angola's kwanza reajustado was introduced in 1995 as a transitional currency, replacing the original kwanza at a rate of 1,000 to 1 — itself a response to hyperinflation that had rendered smaller denominations functionally worthless. A one-million unit note in a currency that had already undergone one redenomination tells you everything about where the economy stood. The reajustado lasted only until 1999, when it was replaced by the second kwanza at 1,000,000 to 1.
