| Obverse description | Gutschein (emergency note) printed in brown and ochre tones on plain paper, with a fine guilloche border framing the entire face. The denomination EINE MILLIARDE MARK is set in large bold letterpress type at centre, with the word GUTSCHEIN arched across the upper border. The lower portion carries a text block in German stating the note is redeemable at the Hauptkasse der August Thyssen-Hütte, Gewerkschaft, Hamborn-Rhein, with an expiry date of 31. März 1924 and an issue date of Hamborn, 15. Sept. 1923, followed by two facsimile signatures and the series designation Reihe W at upper left. |
