| Obverse description | Green and beige letterpress-printed Notgeld note with a decorative multi-rule border enclosing the large bold denomination '1 Milliarde MARK' at the top centre. Two green vignette cartouches flank the central text block — the left bearing a crossed-hammer and cogwheel emblem, the right an anchor with interlaced rope — representing Duisburg's industrial and Rhine-port identity. The lower portion carries the issue date 'DUISBURG, 25. SEPTEMBER 1923', a red circular city stamp, and a manuscript signature above the printed authority line 'DER OBERBÜRGERMEISTER I.V.'; the serial number appears vertically in red at the left margin. |
