Memo Euroscope issues these zero-denomination novelty notes as educational souvenir items, typically sold at tourist attractions across France and neighboring countries. The Touroparc Zoo, located in Romanèche-Thorins in Burgundy, has participated in the series since its early years. Having Enschedé produce them is a deliberate choice — the Haarlem firm has printed genuine banknotes for dozens of central banks over three centuries, and the inclusion of a real security thread and hologram gives the format a tactile plausibility that cheaper souvenir printing cannot match.
