The zero euro souvenir note program, administered by the European Souvenir Banknote Association, has been running since 2015 and now encompasses hundreds of tourist sites across France and beyond. Oberthur Fiduciaire prints these to the same security specifications as circulating currency — genuine intaglio printing, UV-reactive ink, and embedded security thread — which is precisely why they have attracted a secondary collector market entirely separate from the sites that sell them. The Zoo de la Boissière du Doré, located in Loire-Atlantique, is a mid-sized private zoo established in the 1970s.
