The Zero Euro Souvenir series, launched in 2015 by the Austrian entrepreneur Richard Falkner and distributed through European tourist sites, occupies an odd commercial niche — legally valid in design terms (issued under ECB authorization for souvenir purposes) but carrying no face value and no redemption obligation. Oberthur Fiduciaire in Rennes handles production for much of the series, applying the same security printing infrastructure used for genuine currency.

The Guadeloupe Zoo issue is among the smaller-run regional entries. Collectors should note that print quantities for individual souvenir sites are rarely disclosed.
