EuroSouvenir zero-euro notes were introduced in France in 2015 and quickly expanded across Europe as a licensed souvenir format printed by Oberthur Fiduciaire — one of the continent's major security printers — using genuine banknote stock and security thread, which gives them a tactile authenticity that photocopied tourist ephemera lacks. The Czech Republic proved an enthusiastic market; Zlín-Lešná is among dozens of Central European sites that adopted the format. The zoo itself is built around an 18th-century chateau complex within a landscaped English park, which makes it an atypically elegant setting for a zoological collection.
