One of the souvenir zero-euro notes issued under the licensed scheme coordinated by Richard Fährmann's Euro Banknote Memory program, which has contracted Oberthur Fiduciaire to produce these collector pieces for European cultural institutions since around 2015. The East Slovak Gallery in Košice chose to feature the Klimkovič family — Flemislav and Gabriel Klimkovič were nineteenth-century Slovak painters of some regional significance, both trained abroad and largely rediscovered through the gallery's own collection efforts.
These zero-euro pieces carry no legal tender status anywhere, though they replicate the physical security features of genuine euro notes to a remarkable degree, including the Oberthur watermark and serial numbering unique to each institution's run.
