Vulcania is the volcanic theme park operated by the Auvergne regional council in Saint-Ours-les-Roches, built partly underground into an extinct volcanic cone in the Chaîne des Puys. The 0 Euro souvenir program, administered by the Union Européenne des Associations Fiduciaires, launched in 2015 as a licensed collector item — face value zero, legal tender nowhere, but printed on genuine banknote-grade cotton stock by Oberthur with a holographic strip to pass as convincingly official as possible.
The series became unexpectedly popular with tourist sites across France, and Vulcania was among the earliest participating venues.
