Villa Cavrois, completed in 1932 to a design by Robert Mallet-Stevens, spent decades in near-ruin after the Cavrois family sold it in 1986 — stripped of fittings, vandalized, and at one point used for paintball. The French state acquired it in 1990, but serious restoration only began in 2001 and wasn't complete until 2015. That twenty-five year gap between acquisition and reopening is the real story behind this note's subject.
The zero-euro souvenir format has been produced by Oberthur Fiduciaire since 2015 under CMN and other cultural licensees. These carry genuine euro security features — including a holographic strip — despite having no monetary function. The Mallet-Stevens estate remains one of the more architecturally significant restorations in the CMN portfolio.
