Finland's souvenir zero euro program has produced hundreds of regional issues, but the Ulvila coin hoard is one of the few backed by a genuinely significant archaeological event. The hoard, discovered in Ulvila in western Finland, contained over 2,000 late medieval coins — one of the largest such finds in Finnish history — and its recovery reshaped understanding of Baltic trade networks reaching into the Finnish interior during the 14th and 15th centuries.
Oberthur Fiduciaire prints the entire souvenir euro series under license from the ECB, which technically permits the denomination on legal-format paper. These carry no monetary value and are not legal tender.
