Terra Botanica, a botanical theme park outside Angers in Maine-et-Loire, began issuing souvenir zero-euro notes around 2016 as part of the broader novelty series commercialized across French tourist sites by Oberthur Fiduciaire. These notes carry no legal tender status anywhere and were never intended to circulate — they are sold directly to visitors as collectibles, priced well above face value from the moment of issue.
This is the second of two designs issued by the park in 2022, distinguished from the first by its reverse imagery. Oberthur's security printing credentials are genuine: the firm produces actual banknotes for numerous central banks, and the zero-euro format uses the same substrate and printing techniques, which accounts for much of the collector appeal.
