EuroSouvenir notes occupy a peculiar niche — legal-tender-styled collectibles issued under a scheme authorized by the Banque de France, with Oberthur Fiduciaire producing them to genuine security-printing standards despite the denomination being worthless by design. The Bayeux Tapestry subject is one of the more defensible choices in a series that has occasionally scraped the bottom of tourist-town iconography.
The tapestry itself dates to the 1070s and is technically an embroidery, not a woven piece — a distinction that has irritated textile historians for centuries.
