The "0 Euro" souvenir note program, administered under license from the European Central Bank, requires that each issue be printed by a certified security printer — hence Oberthur Fiduciaire's involvement despite the denomination carrying no monetary value whatsoever. Finland's entry in the wildlife subseries features the wolverine, Gulo gulo, a species so elusive and territorially aggressive that documented sightings in Finnish Lapland remain genuinely rare even for researchers.
Collectors should note that Oberthur produced these in numbered runs; sell-through at point-of-issue tourist venues was tracked, and unsold stock was not reprinted.
