The Stade Geoffroy-Guichard entry in the 2016 EuroSouvenir series was released to coincide with UEFA Euro 2016, which assigned Saint-Étienne's ground as one of the tournament venues. Oberthur Fiduciaire produced these collector notes under the same technical security standards applied to genuine currency — not a gimmick, but a deliberate choice that gave the format credibility with collectors and made counterfeiting pointless given the zero denomination.
Legal tender nowhere, but produced under European Central Bank authorization for the souvenir format launched that same year.
