EuroSouvenir's zero-denomination collector notes occupy an odd corner of the hobby — legal in format, valueless by design, and manufactured to the same security-printing standards Oberthur Fiduciaire applies to circulating currency. The Eusébio edition was released as part of the Sport Lisboa e Benfica licensing deal, one of several European football clubs that signed on for the series. Oberthur's involvement guarantees genuine intaglio printing and proper substrate, which is why these trade at a premium over similar commemorative novelties produced by lesser printers.

Eusébio da Silva Ferreira died in January 2014, making this a posthumous tribute issued four years after his death.
