Schwanenstadt — a small Upper Austrian market town of around 4,500 — joined the souvenir euro program that Oberthur Fiduciaire has been producing for European municipalities and tourist sites since the concept took hold in the mid-2010s. These zero-denomination notes have no legal tender status anywhere; they exist purely as collectibles, sold at point of issue for a few euros above production cost.
The R. Faille signature refers to an Oberthur executive signatory, a formality applied across the entire souvenir series rather than any individual monetary authority.
