The Schraden is a low-lying wetland region in Brandenburg, southeastern Germany — one of the larger contiguous floodplain forests remaining in Central Europe. The 0 Euro souvenir program, administered through Euro Souvenir and printed by Oberthur Fiduciaire, issues these notes as licensed collectibles with legal face value of zero; they are produced to genuine banknote specification, security features included, but are never tendered as currency.
Oberthur's involvement matters here — the firm has printed currency for dozens of sovereign states, so the paper and print quality are not nominal gestures toward authenticity.
