EuroSouvenir 0 Euro notes are legal collector's items — technically issued by licensed European institutions to sidestep counterfeiting law — but carry no spending power. Oberthur Fiduciaire prints them to full De La Rue-grade security standards, which is part of the program's appeal and its odd premise simultaneously.

Schloss Stolzenfels, near Koblenz, was rebuilt in Rhenish Gothic style for Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia after the original medieval fortification had stood in ruin since 1689, burned by French troops during the Nine Years' War. The irony of a Franco-printed souvenir Euro commemorating it will be lost on most buyers.
