Euro Souvenir notes are a French commercial initiative launched in 2015, sold at tourist sites as collectibles with no legal tender status anywhere — the zero denomination is the point. Oberthur Fiduciaire prints them to genuine banknote specification, which is part of the appeal: real security paper, real hologram, real intaglio in some runs. Sarlat-la-Canéda, the medieval bastide town at the heart of Périgord Noir, is one of the most-visited interior destinations in France, and the six geese motif references the region's foie gras industry, which has defined its agricultural economy for centuries.
