0 Euro Sarlat-La-Canéda

The zero euro souvenir note program, administered by the Union Européenne des Collectionneurs d'Euros, has issued hundreds of town and regional titles since launching around 2015. Sarlat-la-Canéda is a natural candidate — the medieval bastide town in the Dordogne is one of the most visited in southwestern France, and its 14th-century core is largely intact, having escaped significant modernization largely by economic accident: post-medieval decline left it too poor to rebuild. Oberthur Fiduciaire prints these to genuine banknote specification, including the embedded hologram strip, which gives them their collector appeal despite carrying no legal tender status anywhere.
