The Rheinbach Classics is an annual vintage automobile gathering held in Rheinbach, a small town in the Rhineland, roughly 20 kilometers southwest of Bonn. The zero-euro souvenir note program, launched commercially around 2015 and distributed primarily through tourist outlets and event merchandise tables, uses genuine Oberthur security printing — the same firm that has produced banknotes for dozens of central banks — which gives these novelty items a materials authenticity that their face value rather undermines.
Legal tender in no jurisdiction, exempt from counterfeiting law for that reason, and wildly collected anyway.
