EuroSouvenir's zero-denomination tourist notes occupy a formally recognized but curious corner of the hobby — they carry the legal face of euro banknotes by arrangement with the European Central Bank, which permits their production provided the zero denomination unambiguously disqualifies them from monetary use. Oberthur Fiduciaire prints them to genuine security-note standards, including the distinctive feel of cotton-blend currency paper, which routinely surprises collectors expecting something closer to a postcard.

The Puerta del Sol edition joined a rapidly expanding catalog after 2015, when the souvenir note concept gained serious commercial traction across European tourist sites. Oberthur's involvement gives these notes production credentials that most souvenir items cannot claim.
