The zero-euro souvenir note program, administered by the Paris-based company Euro Souvenir under license from the European Central Bank, launched in 2015 and grew rapidly into a legitimate collecting category. Oberthur Fiduciaire produces these on genuine banknote paper with full security features — the same printer responsible for French euro production — which is precisely why the ECB permitted the scheme at all. A note with no monetary value that nonetheless meets the technical standards of legal tender paper.

Planète Sauvage is a drive-through safari park near Nantes, one of France's larger wildlife attractions. These site-specific issues sell exclusively at the issuing venue, which keeps surviving quantities tightly tied to visitor traffic in any given season.
