Oberthur Fiduciaire produces these souvenir euros under license from the European Central Bank, which formally authorized the zero-denomination collector note program in 2017. The notes carry genuine security features — including a holographic strip and UV-reactive ink — printed to the same technical specifications Oberthur applies to circulating currency contracts, which is precisely the point: the novelty is that a brewery souvenir is manufactured to central bank standards.
Pilsner Urquell, brewed in Plzeň since 1842, is one of the more commercially prominent subjects in the Eurosouvenirs catalog. The 2022 dating places it within the post-COVID expansion of the souvenir note market, when tourism-dependent venues aggressively adopted the format.
