Part of the EuroSouvenir program, which since around 2015 has commissioned Oberthur and other security printers to produce legal-tender-format collector notes for the European tourism market — zero face value, no redemption obligation, but printed on the same equipment and security substrate used for genuine euro banknotes. This particular issue celebrates notable figures from Botoșani County in northeastern Romania, a region that produced, among others, the poet Mihai Eminescu and composer George Enescu.
Oberthur's involvement guarantees genuine intaglio printing and embedded security features despite the novelty purpose.
