The souvenir zero-euro note program, administered through EuroBanknote Memory in partnership with regional issuers, has produced hundreds of these Oberthur-printed pieces since 2015. They are legal novelties — not legal tender — sold directly to visitors as collectibles. This example marks the fifth anniversary of the Parc Zoologique de Paris's reopening in 2014 after a lengthy renovation that closed the original 1934 Vincennes zoo for nearly a decade of reconstruction.
Oberthur applies genuine banknote security features including watermarking, keeping production costs and collector confidence aligned. Mintages are controlled per issue but rarely published officially.
