0 Euro Parc Zoologique de Mulhouse

The zero euro souvenir note program, administered by EuroSouvenir and printed by Oberthur Fiduciaire, began in 2015 as a formally licensed collectible — legal tender in denomination only, never intended for circulation, and accepted by no bank. Oberthur prints them to the same security specifications as genuine ECB-issue notes, including the distinctive feel of the substrate, which is precisely what makes them commercially viable as souvenirs. Mulhouse's zoo, one of the oldest in France, opened in 1868 under municipal management — an unusual ownership structure that it has largely retained.
