The zero euro souvenir note program, administered by the European Banknote Memory Organization (EBMO) and printed exclusively by Oberthur Fiduciaire, has produced well over a thousand different tourist issues since launching in 2015. Each note is printed to the same security specifications as genuine euro currency — including intaglio printing and a holographic strip — making them genuinely interesting objects despite having no face value or legal tender status. Palma Aquarium's entry joined a long queue of Spanish attraction issues.
R. Faille's signature appears as a formality; EBMO licenses the design rights, and the issuing institution bears no central banking authority whatsoever.
