| 备注 |
The Ossuaire de Douaumont holds the unidentified remains of an estimated 130,000 soldiers — French and German — killed during the Battle of Verdun in 1916. It was this specific site, more than any other on the Western Front, that Charles de Gaulle and Konrad Adenauer chose for their 1962 reconciliation ceremony, standing together over the bones of men their nations had spent two world wars killing. The souvenir euro program, administered by UECA, has leaned heavily on sites of memory; this note was among several issued in the Meuse département series.
Oberthur Fiduciaire printed the note, as with the bulk of the Euro Souvenir range.
