The UENA (Union Européenne des Numismates et Associations) zero-euro souvenir series occupies an odd corner of the hobby — legal-tender face value of zero, genuine Oberthur Fiduciaire security printing, and official authorization from the Banque de France. These are not novelties produced outside the system; they carry the same anti-counterfeiting substrate used on circulating euro notes.
Nostradamus was born in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in 1503, and the town remains the primary commercial driver behind souvenir notes bearing his image. The series has been used aggressively as a local tourism revenue tool since the program's 2015 launch.
