This particular issue commemorates Rembrandt's 1654 portrait of Amsterdam regent Jan Six, one of the most technically admired paintings in the Dutch Golden Age canon and still held by the Six family's private collection in Amsterdam, never sold to a museum. That provenance — a 370-year-old work still in the hands of the sitter's descendants — is the actual story here.
