The 0 Euro souvenir program, administered by Euro Souvenir and printed by Oberthur Fiduciaire, began issuing these collector pieces across European tourist sites from around 2015. They carry no legal tender status and were never intended to circulate — the face value is the point entirely. Bojnice Zoo, established in 1954 and among the oldest in Slovakia, is a predictable candidate for the series given its draw as a heritage tourism site built around a romantic 19th-century castle complex.
Oberthur's involvement lends genuine security printing credentials to what is essentially a souvenir ticket.
