The Musée du Débarquement at Arromanches sits on the site of the Mulberry B artificial harbour — the prefabricated Allied port towed across the Channel in 1944 and responsible for landing roughly 2.5 million men and 500,000 vehicles over the following months. The zero-euro souvenir note program, administered by Richard Faille's Euro Souvenir outfit from 2015 onward, made Arromanches an early participant given the site's international draw.
Oberthur printed these with genuine banknote security features — UV-reactive ink, a security thread — despite the notes having no legal tender status anywhere. That detail tends to surprise collectors who encounter them expecting novelty-shop quality.
