The "souvenir euro" format emerged in France around 2015 and spread quickly to German tourist sites — this Mummelsee piece is part of that wave. Memo Euro Scope, the issuing brand behind much of the German souvenir note market, contracts Enschedé for production precisely because the Haarlem firm's security printing credentials lend the notes a plausibility that cheaper commercial print runs cannot replicate. Zero face value, no legal tender status anywhere, but printed on the same presses responsible for genuine currency.
The Mummelsee itself sits at roughly 1000 meters in the northern Black Forest and has been a tourist draw since the 18th century, long predating this particular piece of printed paper.
