Euro Souvenir notes are a licensed novelty series administered by the Union Européenne des Gestionnaires de Trophées (UEGT), with each design commissioned by an individual tourism operator or municipality and printed to European Central Bank dimensional specifications — legally unspendable but deliberately formatted to pass as currency at a glance. Oberthur Fiduciaire, one of the few security printers with an active ECB contract, handles the entire run.
Marseille's Vieux-Port location joined the series in 2021, one of several French city editions that year. These notes circulate almost entirely as retail souvenirs; secondary market demand is narrow but consistent among topical collectors focused on French regional issues.
