Fernandel — born Fernand Joseph Désiré Contandin in Marseille on 8 May 1903 — was among the most internationally recognized French comic actors of the twentieth century, best known outside France for the Don Camillo film series. Boulevard Chave, in the 5th arrondissement, runs through the working-class neighbourhood where he grew up. The 120th anniversary peg gives this 2023 issue its reason for existing.
Oberthur Fiduciaire prints the entire EuroSouvenir programme under licence from the European Central Bank, which authorised the zero-denomination collector format in 2017.
