The zero euro souvenir note program, administered by the AEAA, has produced thousands of collector pieces since launching in 2015 — each one printed by Oberthur Fiduciaire to genuine banknote specification, with the same security thread, intaglio printing, and UV-reactive features used in circulating currency. The program is technically legal under EU law because a zero denomination carries no monetary value and therefore cannot be counterfeited in any meaningful legal sense.
This issue commemorates the Quit India Movement of August 1942, Gandhi's most direct call for immediate British withdrawal. The movement triggered mass arrests within hours — Gandhi himself was detained at Pune's Aga Khan Palace that same day and held there until 1944.
